Research Interests

I have a background in Mathematics and Ecology. I am interested in the functioning of terrestrial ecosystems, in particular, in terms of phosphorus, which is an essential element for live. I am developing simple mathematical models to better understand how phosphorus becomes available to ecosystems, which includes synthesizing processes at the interfaces of rocks, soils and vegetation. My current work focuses on identifying the key processes that drive the phosphorus cycle of lowland Amazon rainforests, the productivity of which is hypothesized to be phosphorus limited.
