Overview
The goals of this workshop are to review the state of the art of applications of MEP related to Earth system function, atmosphere-biosphere interactions and biogeochemical cycling but also specifically (a) to identify key shortcomings of conventional modeling approaches where MEP can be used to improve these models, (b) to discuss and develop simple conceptual models that illustrate novel applications of MEP within Earth system science, and (c) to isolate characteristic signatures in available data sets that can be attributed to optimization and MEP.
Dates: 10 - 11 May 2007
Location: Max-Planck-Institut fuer Biogeochemie, Jena, Germany.
