Forest Change Detection using Sentinel-1 Time series data
Sentinel-1 gives us a wealth of data that can be used to derive information about the land surface. In this talk I explore using
Recurrence Quantification Analysis (RQA) for the detection of forest change globally.
RQA is based on the computation of recurrence plots from a given time series. The recurrence plot is based on the similarity of every time step against every other time step of a time series. These recurrence plots can then be used to derive statistics of the time series, which take the order of the time series into account.
The derived maps give an indicator of change in the forest cover on a two year time period.
