6 of the world's most cited scientists from MPI-BGC
In the annual ranking of the world's most cited and thus most influential scientists, six authors from our institute are listed in 2025.
The Who's Who of the world's highly-cited researchers lists six scientists from our institute in 2025: Directors Markus Reichstein and Sönke Zaehle, as well as group leaders Martin Jung and Jens Kattge, project group leader Gregory Duveiller and former group leader Henrik Hartmann, who still belongs to MPI-BGC with a second affiliation. As a result, our institute belongs to the Max Planck Institutes with the most highly-cited cited scientists (66 total for MPG), as it has been the case for several years.
The annual ranking of highly cited scientists draws on the data and analysis performed by bibliometric experts from the Institute of Scientific Information at Clarivate Analytics. The publication and citation data come from the Web of Science, a web-based database containing the scientific literature of over 30,000 journal titles.
