Research Interests:
My work focuses on the development and application of novel methods of nonlinear time series analysis to the exploration of dynamical complexity in the Earth system as well as other complex systems. Besides working at MPI-BGC, I am visiting scientist at the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research. Details on my vitae and recent publications can be found at my website at PIK.

Current services to the scientific community:
* Division science officer for "Time Series and Patterns", European Geosciences Union, Division "Nonlinear Processes in Geophysics"
* Regular editor of "Pattern Recognition in Physics" (Copernicus Publications)
* Guest editor of a special issue on "Complex Network Approaches to Analyzing and Modeling Nonlinear Systems in Geosciences" in "Nonlinear Processes in Geophysics"
