Colloquium: Rene Orth

In this presentation I will show example studies from our research group on the interactions between vegetation and water. This will include (i) impacts of soil dryness on vegetation as seen with station observations as well as with large-scale observation-based data and in Earth system models, (ii) drought legacy effects, (iii) the role of near-surface soil moisture versus that of terrestrial water storage for vegetation functioning across the globe. Finally, (iv) vice versa, I will show how vegetation affects soil dryness through evapotranspiration.
