3.  Description

As a scientist, presenting your findings is essential, whether as a talk or poster at a conference. However, effective science presentation is more than just sharing data. How do I make my complex research comprehensible without overwhelming my audience?

This workshop covers oral and poster presentations:

  • Planning and structure
  • Slide composition
  • Functions of the poster elements
  • Create meaningful graphics
  • Memorable start and ending
  • Design and arrangement
  • Speech, voice, and body language
  • Presenting posters
  • Difficult situations

My trainings are “work”shops, meaning that the participants apply the learned material to their presentations/poster right there. Therefore, everybody should bring presentations and posters to work with.
In this course, we'll go through the process of slide and poster creation. You'll immediately apply what you've learned to your material. Along the way, we will talk about dos and don'ts and lots of little tips.
I know that most scientists talk about their topic with shining eyes. Often, that excitement is gone the moment they stand in front of a crowd. To tap into this enthusiasm during your talk is particularly important to me. For that enthusiasm to reappear, you need to feel safe with what you are doing in your presentation.
