IMPRS Selection Symposium

Twice a year, the IMPRS-gBGC accepts applications for open PhD positions. The application process consists of three steps:

1. Online registration & submission of application documents (from December 9, 2025 until January 12, 2026)
2. (Possibly) Phone or video conference interview (January-February 2026)
3. Selection Symposium in Jena (March 10-11, 2026)

The Selection Symposium includes the following items:

• Icebreaker activity & a tour through the MPI-BGC with our PhD researchers,
• Introduction to the IMPRS-gBGC,
• 3-minute presentations by the candidates,
• Interviews with the project advisors and a member of the IMPRS Steering Committee,
• Informal meetings with prospective colleagues and a tour of the facilities,
• Free time to explore the city of Jena.

Successful candidates will be offered a comprehensive mentoring program in a highly communicative scientific environment and PhD funding for three years.
