By car

North-South direction: From Autobahn A9, at the junction Hermsdorfer Kreuz change to Autobahn A4 towards Erfurt - Frankfurt/Main. Take Exit 53 at Jena Göschwitz and drive towards the Jena city center (Zentrum) on road B88. Take a left turn onto Winzerlaer Straße, and follow this road and the signs to Beutenberg Campus. Turn left into the Campus area and follow Hans-Knöll-Straße uphill. At the top take a left turn towards the MPI for Biogeochemistry.

East-West direction: From Autobahn A4, take Exit 53 at Jena Göschwitz and drive towards the Jena city center (Zentrum) on road B88. Take a left turn onto Winzerlaer Straße, and follow this road and the signs to Beutenberg Campus. Turn left into the Campus area and follow Hans-Knöll-Straße uphill. At the top take a left turn towards the MPI for Biogeochemistry.

Parking

Short-term parking is possible in front of the main entrance. You may ask at the reception for a key for the guest parking spaces.

By train and bus

Coming from the North (Berlin), South (Munich) or East (Dresden), you will arrive at the train station Jena Paradies. Take a short walk to the city center bus terminal at Teichgraben. Bus lines number 10, 11, and 12 in the direction of Burgaupark, Beutenberg Campus/Ammerbach or Winzerla/Göschwitz, respectively, stop at Beutenberg Campus. Once you get off the bus, walk straight uphill on Hans Knöll Straße. At the top, take a left turn towards the MPI for Biogeochemistry. At most times of day, a bus comes by every few minutes, and timetables are posted at the stops.

Coming from the West (Frankfurt/Main) you will arrive at the train station Jena Westbahnhof. Walk north on Westbahnhofstraße and turn left, walk through the underpass, and cross the street to the Westbahnhofstraße bus stop. This is different from the Westbahnhof bus stop (line 15 only, closer to the train station). Bus lines number 10, 11, and 12 in the direction of Burgaupark, Beutenberg Campus/Ammerbach or Winzerla/Göschwitz, respectively, stop at Beutenberg Campus. Once you get off the bus, walk straight uphill on Hans Knöll Straße. At the top, take a left turn towards the MPI for Biogeochemistry. At most times of day, a bus comes by every few minutes, and timetables are posted at the stops.

By plane

Arrival at Berlin Airport: Take the train to the Jena Paradies station (roughly 3 hours). To get to the institute, please follow the directions described above.

Arrival at Leipzig-Halle Airport: Take a shuttle or any train to Leipzig’s main station (Hauptbahnhof). The Intercity to Jena Paradies station takes about 1 hour. To get to the institute, please follow the directions described above.

Arrival at Munich Airport: Take a shuttle or any train to Munich’s main station (Hauptbahnhof). The Intercity to Jena Paradies station takes about 2:30 hours. To get to the institute, please follow the directions described above.

Arrival at Frankfurt/Main Airport: Take the train to Jena Westbahnhof (duration: about 3 hours) and follow the directions described above.
