Sandra Raab

Doctoral Researcher

Main Focus

PhD project:

Links between hydrology and carbon cycle processes within permafrost ecosystems in Northeast Siberia

Research Location:

Drainage ring at the Ambolikha site, nearby Chersky, Siberia, Russia

Research Focus:
  • Comparison of a drained (dry) and control (wet) site regarding hydrological and carbon patterns
  • Hydrological patterns via a network of piemometers, assessment of lateral flow conditions
  • Water sampling for analysis of: carbon concentrations (DOC, DIC), carbon isotopes (δ13C-DIC, δ14C-DOC, δ13C-DOC) and water isotopes (δ18O, δD)
  • Filtering of water samples and collection of filters for POC analysis
  • Dissolved gas analysis (CO2, CH4)
  • Assessing water quality parameters (e.g. pH, EC, T)
  • Discharge calculation at a weir location
