EEBIOMASS 4th Virtual Workshop
February 3, 2022
Dear EEBIOMASS community,
We are happy to announce our fourth virtual workshop, which will be happening on February 03, 2022 from 3.00 - 4.15PM CET! Based on the discussion during our first workshop last year, we decided to dedicate this one to the topic of tree mortality. Thus, we invited Dr. Ana Bastos and Dr. Henrik Hartmann as speakers.
15:00 – 15:05 Welcome, Nuno Carvalhais, Max-Planck Institute for Biogeochemistry
15:05 – 15:35 “The potential of Earth Observation to improve attribution of biomass changes to human vs. natural drivers” + discussion, Ana Bastos, Max-Planck Institute for Biogeochemistry
15:35 – 16:05 “Increasing tree mortality from climate change? - Challenges in assessing and scaling mortality trend” + discussion, Henrik Hartmann, Max-Planck Institute for Biogeochemistry
16:05 – 16:15 Wrap up & Outlook
If you have any further questions, please contact Stefanie Burkert (sburkert@bgc...) for more information. We would appreciate it, if you share the information within your network.
Who are we?
Project Office BIOMASS is an initiative of the Max-Planck Institute for Biogeochemistry, the German Aerospace Center (DLR),the Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research and the Department for Remote Sensing at the Friedrich Schiller University in Jena. We are funded by the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology. We build a user community and communicate relevant information on the ESA Earth Explorer mission BIOMASS, which will launch in 2023 to improve our understanding on the role of the land biosphere on the global carbon cycle, with clear implications in a context of climate change.
