IMPRS-gBGC workshop 'Eddy Covariance'

Category: Skill course
Credit points: 0.2 per course day

>> Eddy Covariance 2020

1.  General information

Date: October 10-14, 2022
Location: Lecture hall (Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday) and B0.002 (Wednesday), MPI for Biogeochemistry, Jena
Teacher: Mathias Goeckede, Olaf Kolle, Tarek El-Madany, Mark Schlutow, Jake Nelson

This skill course will cover 4 ½ days, providing an in-depth introduction into theory, instrumentation and data processing skills for the eddy-covariance technique. The course will consist of lectures, hands-on classes with software tools, instrument sessions in the laboratory, and an excursion to the nearby field site at Gebesee.
Target group
This skill course is primarily targeting an internal MPI-BGC audience, i.e. PhD students who are dealing with eddy-covariance data within the context of their projects. The course is in principle also open to external collaborators from national and international research groups, depending on available space. The maximum number of participants is set to 20.

2.  Preparations, resources and prerequisites

For computer lab exercises, participants are asked to bring their own laptops. In the weeks before the actual course, we will distribute instructions to participants how to prepare their laptops for the coursework, i.e. provide lists of software to be installed, and offer code packages for download.
