Main Focus
As a scientific software engineer I am dealing with the problem of efficiently analysing very large gridded Earth System data sets. In particular the concept of data cubes is sucessfully applied to our scientific workflows. I am an early adopter of the Julia programming language and author/contributo/maintainer of a series of Julia packages related to storage (NetCDF.jl Zarr.jl DiskArrays.jl) and analysis (YAXArrays.jl EarthDataLab.jl) of large gridded data.
My interest focuses on optimsing data pipelines in data analysis, modelling and machine learning in both HPC and cloud environments.
Curriculum Vitae
After finishing his degree in physics at the Martin-Luther-University Halle-Wittenberg Fabian moved to the MPI for Biogeochemistry in Jena in 2008. Today he is working there as a project group leader for data cube technologies.
