I am interested in understanding biodiversity, ecosystem functioning, and their interaction across scales. Recently, I started looking at the functioning and diversity of landscapes, and their interaction with extreme events, by leveraging bioclimatic measurements from satellite remote sensing products, including optical and radar observations.

Background in Biology, master in Ecology and Biodiversity at the University of Innsbruck with a thesis on sun-induced chlorophyll fluorescence.
In my PhD, I explored the biodiversity-ecosystem functioning relationship across global ecosystems by integrating satellite remote sensing data and ground measurement of vegetation, as well as eddy-covariance measurements of biogeochemical fluxes. I used eddy-covariance fluxes to calculate ecosystem functions related to productivity, water and carbon exchange, or the efficiency in resource-use, and satellite imagery to derive proxies of biodiversity.
