Sinikka went to the Open Access Ambassadors Conference in Berlin. She is now part of a network with 66 early career researchers from all three scientific sections of the Max Planck Society for promoting open access and open research practices in the Max Planck Society and beyond. AGU fall meeting 2019 took place. Yunpeng gave a talk on Wednesday 11th, about his latest results on Functional Phenology Changes after Nitrogen and Phosphorus Addition. On Thursday, 5th of December, Kendalynn handed in her PhD Thesis and we had to say goodbye since she is leaving Jena. Dear Kendalynn, it was a pleasure to meet you, to be working with you throughout these years, to laugh and to share with you. The whole team wishes you all the Best for the new stage of life. And we are already looking forward to see you again soon. |

November 19th: Mirco has been awarded as Highly Cited Researcher 2019 by the Web of Science in the field ‘Cross-fields’. Congratulations Mirco! Two new articles from the MANIP experiment got published this month: Kendalynn's paper on the fate of N additions in a Mediterranean savanna is published on Ecosphere. David’s paper on Nitrogen and Phosporus effect on sun indiced fluorescence and gross primary productivity is published in Remote Sensing. Wantong just joined our department to do research on hydrology-vegetation-climate coupling across space and time under supervision of René and Mirco. Welcome Wantong! |

October 24-25., Georg Wohlfahrt and Karolina Sakowska from the Biomet Lab are visiting our group. October 22nd, a new article on the retrieval of functional traits from Javier was published in Remote sensing of Environment. From October 8.-12., Tarek went to the FOSES workshop, a hands-on workshop on the theory, application and analysis of fiber-optic sensing for earth and atmospheric sciences. October 3rd. Mirco will act as External Advisory Committee for the FutureArctic H2020 MSCA Project. |

The last week of September, Tarek and Sinikka were in Majadas and Albuera to do our regular calibration routine of field instruments, together with our partners from Valencia. Sinikka just joined our group working to work on the water cycle in MANIP in collaboration with the Hydrology-Biopsphere-Climate Interactions group. Welcome Sinikka! |
