Offers for schools

Here you will find an overview of our offers for schools, with which we want to inform both teachers and students directly.

Forsche Schüler Day

Forsche Schüler Day

Every year in April, we participate in the "Forsche Schüler Tag" of the Beutenberg Campus e.V., an initiative for career orientation that takes place at the same time as the nationwide Girls/Boys Day. In lectures, guided tours and mini-workshops, the students will get an insight into our research. The announcement with the concrete offers and registration information can be found under Events.
Guided tours

Guided tours

Our wood exhibition and the rock mosaic in the foyer of the lecture hall can be visited by appointment.
Project days and talks

Project days and talks

For school classes there is the possibility to learn about specific research topics in the context of project days.
Due to limited capacities, these events are limited to a few per year and must be planned well in advance. Unfortunately, we are often unable to accommodate requests at short notice.
High school students and teachers are welcome to attend our public English-language colloquia. Pre-registration is requested.
Internships

Internships

We offer a limited number of internships that give students 16 years and older the opportunity to gain insight into research at the Institute.
Long Night of Sciences

Long Night of Sciences

We always participate in the Jena Long Night of Science (LNDW), which usually takes place every two years in November. From 6:00 p.m. to midnight, we offer exciting lectures and laboratory tours, as well as information booths, hands-on experiments, and games with attractive prizes aimed specifically at children and teenagers. Information on the program for the respective year can be found under Events or on the central Long Night of Science website.

MaxWissen - the educational webpage of the Max Planck Society

As part of the MAX series, the Max Planck Society presents current science to the general public, in line with the curricula for upper secondary schools.
There are only available in German. Please switch to the German version of this page for more details on our contributions.
In addition to the MAX booklets, the Max Planck Society has made text and image material available on a separate max-wissen page (in German) for students and teachers.
