Equal opportunities

Equal opportunities for all - this principle is upheld both in the Max Planck Society and at our institute. We promote employees regardless of gender, nationality, religion, disability, age, cultural origin and sexual identity, because their diversity is the basis for cutting-edge research.

Currently, about 230 people work at the institute. Of the approximately 130 scientific employees, more than 50 are doctoral students. About 60% of the employees are from international backgrounds and come from more than 30 different countries. We have an institute-wide share of women of just under 45%.

In order to live up to our claim, we offer the following opportunities for our employees:

audit berufundfamilie

On September 30, 2018, the Max Planck Society (MPG) was awarded the audit certificate of berufundfamilie Service GmbH and the Gemeinnützige Hertie-Stiftung for the fifth time (after 2006, 2009, 2012 and 2016). This award is under the patronage of the Federal Minister for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth and the Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy. The MPG is thus setting an example of the permanent anchoring of family-conscious personnel policy in the corporate culture.
Our Equal Opportunity Officers support particularly women in the scientific and technical field in their professional development and advocate for the compatibility of family and career. more
The Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Office aims to raise awareness on diversity and inclusion topics through activities such as workshops and seminars and as a contact point to discuss concerns and/or conflicts of a related character. more
