Colombia PeatSense Congress: Exploring Wetland Ecology and Carbon Cycles through Earth Observation
The Colombia PeatSense Congress: Exploring Wetland Ecology and Carbon Cycles through Earth Observation is a networking event to analyze bilateral cooperation potential between scientists in Germany and Colombia. It is funded by the German Ministry of Education and Research and will be held in English. Application is open until March 1st. Please note that space is limited so depending on the number of applicants we might have to make a selection.

Agenda:

March 19: Congress day 1 with

  • introduction,
  • scientific sessions on peatland characteristics and disturbances, biodiversity

March 20: Congress day 2 with

  • scientific sessions on peatlands in the greenhouse-gas cycles, socio-environmental conflicts and deforestation,
  • information on bilateral funding opportunities

March 21: Hands-on seminars for Early Career Scientists on

  • spatial data processing in R in the morning and
  • SAR satellite image analysis in the afternoon.

March 22: Field trip by bus to Chingaza National Park

Transport from and to the campus of UNAL and lunch will be provided

We will take a short walk, each participant is responsible for their own appropriate clothing
