Curriculum Vitae

General Research Interests:

  • Land-atmosphere interactions in terms of energy, water and carbon

  • Responses and feedbacks in the climate-carbon cycle system as CO2 increases

  • Linking simple conceptual models, complex Earth system models and Earth observations

Current Research:

  • Exploring the application of modern statistical/machine-learning methods in Earth system research (USMILE ERC Project)

  • Hybrid-modelling (i.e. fusion of process-based and data-driven models) of land-atmosphere interactions

  • Determining constraints of key entities in the the climate-biosphere continuum by linking multi-model ensemble simulations and observational data

  • Disentangling the different effects of rising atmospheric CO2 concentration in Earth observations and model simulations using causal inference
