I am a PhD student in the 'Plant Allocation' group of Henrik Hartmann. My research interests focuses on the causes for host selection of the European spruce bark beetle Ips typographus. I am looking into the volatile emissions of spruce bark and the effect of weather events (windthrow, drought) on these profiles. I investigate which compounds might act as cues for the bark beetle to distinguish healthy and weakened tress from one another.
Topic: VOC emission as cues for pioneer bark beetle host selection
