Exploring the Earth System with Digital Data

January 08, 2019

Prof. Markus Reichstein, Managing Director at the Max Planck Institute for Biogeochemistry and member of the Board of Directors of the Michael Stift Center, will give a lecture on "Understanding the System Earth with Digital Data" on January 15, 2019. He thus gives the final lecture in a lecture series on "Digitisation and its effects on man and society", which was organised within the framework of the Collegium Europaeum Jenense together with the Institute for Computer Science and the Michael Stifel Center.

Interactions between the atmosphere, the biosphere and the oceans determine the dynamics of our Earth system. Many of the phenomena involved are nowadays monitored with the help of satellite and in-situ data. The resulting data streams provide, for example, information on vegetation, its seasonal dynamics, trends, and anomalies.

The public event starts at 18.00 in the Astoria auditorium, Unterm Markt 8, 07743 Jena, Germany.
