Main Focus

The climate on Earth is strongly determined by the atmospheric content of long-lived greenhouse gases, particularly CO2. Due to the burning of fossil fuels, the CO2 content is currently rising more and more. However, about half of these anthropogenic emissions are currently compensated by the uptake of CO2 into the world oceans and into land ecosystems, thereby slowing down climate change.

My research aims to contribute to a better understanding of these natural CO2 uptake processes.
