Ana Bastos receives Outstanding Early Career Scientist Award
The European Geosciences Union (EGU) has recently announced the awardees of Union Medals and Awards, Division Medals, and Division Outstanding Early Career Scientist Awards. In the Biogeosciences (BG) Division, Ana Bastos, group leader in the Biogeochemical Integration department received the Outstanding Early Career Scientist Award for her important contribution to the Earth, planetary and space sciences. The award ceremonies will be held during the EGU General Assembly in April 2022.
Ana Bastos’ scientific work deals with understanding the inter-annual to long-term variability in the global carbon-cycle. Her research bridges the disciplines of atmospheric science, ecology and biogeochemistry. In addition to her research commitment, Ana is very active in international outreach.
We also congratulate our alumnus Jakob Zscheischler for being honoured with the EGU Arne Richter Award for Outstanding Early Career Scientists. Jakob Zscheischler, formerly PhD student (IMPRS) and PostDoc at BGI is now group leader in the Department of Computational Hydrosystems at the Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research (UFZ Leipzig).
