Greencycles II Training Workshop II
Greencycles II Training Workshop II Benchmarking and Data Assimilation took place in September 2011 at the Max Planck Institute for Biogeochemistry, Jena

The course will cover the following aspects:

  • Overview on current benchmarking activities
  • Treatment of data errors and model-data inconsistencies
    • Examples: eddy-covariance measurements / remote sensing
  • Metrics for model evaluation
    • Frequency-based methods / Metrics: Selection of appropriate metrics
  • Introduction to model uncertainty analysis
    • Parameter screening techniques, latin hypercube sampling
  • Introduction to data assimilation methods
    • Monte-Carlo Methods, Ensemble Kalman Filters, adjoint methods
