FTIR spectrometer starts its long trip to Ascension

The Fourier-Transform Infrared (FTIR) spectrometer allows remote sensing of numerous atmospheric greenhouse gases at the same time. Our FTIR container will be set up on Ascension Island in the South Atlantic, a unique location for sampling of tropical air from Africa and also from South America - two continents where such measurements have not yet been made.
