Background
2018 marks the 160th anniversary of Max Planck's birth. Exactly 100 years ago, the founder of quantum physics was awarded the Nobel Prize. The Max Planck Society was founded 70 years ago. 25 years ago, in 1993, Germany's most successful scientific organization adopted guidelines for the formation of a uniform German research landscape, as a result of which 20 new Max Planck Institutes were established in the new federal states, including the three research institutes in Jena. Today, scientists from a wide range of disciplines are researching the frontiers of knowledge in more than 80 Max Planck Institutes. So there are many reasons to celebrate. Celebrate with us!
