Continuous measurements in the Amazon

24. April 2012
In March 2012, members of the Tall Tower group (TAG, Biogeochemical Systems) installed a joint MPI-BGC/MPIC system for continuous measurements at the CLAIRE/ATTO (Amazonian Tall Tower Observatory) site, northeast of Manaus, Brazil). Carbon dioxide, methane and carbon monoxide are measured on five levels of an 80 m-tall tower, which makes this the tallest continuous measurements of this kind in the Amazon. In the near future, the equipment is to be moved to the 320 m-tall tower that will be built nearby in the frame of the joint German-Brazilian ATTO project.
