Die Offshore-Windenergie in der Nordsee spielt eine wichtige Rolle bei der europäischen Energiewende. Werden sich diese Windparks, da in den nächsten dreißig Jahren immer mehr davon geplant werden, allmählich der Grenze der tatsächlich vorhandenen Windenergie nähern?
Fast 40 Prozent des erzeugten Stroms kamen im Jahr 2018 aus erneuerbaren Quellen, allein 17 Prozent aus Windkraft. Damit trägt die Windenergie etwa in dem Maße zum Strommix bei, wie unter den Windbedingungen in Deutschland zu erwarten ist. Das haben Forscher des Max-Planck-Instituts für Biogeochemie festgestellt, indem sie die mögliche mit der tatsächlich gewonnenen Energie der Windturbinen verglichen.
